Authentic Antique Chinese, Ming dynasty (1368-1644. A.D.) A Biscuit Porcelain, Pale Celadon -glazed Scholar’s brush rest In the form of classic, symmetric Wu Shan "Five Mountains" form, of crescent shape and is molded as five mountain peaks rising from the incised in low relief pattern, The base is recessed and pierced at either end with a small hole.
The ceramic brush rest in the form of the mountain has been a popular design since the Ming dynasty, but also some mountains gets its name from its shape which is reminiscent of a Chinese calligraphy brush rest. In Hong Kong (Beacon Hill), in Liao Ning, Qing Hai, Si Chuan, Fu Jian and of course the most famous mount on Huang Shan.
